5500 double hung vinyl window

A true test of achievement

Thermal Dynamics - When it comes to thermal efficiencies, strategic energy efficiency features ensure Reflections 5500 windows are among the most thermally efficient products on the market today.

Insulating Glass Unit - Insulating glass units feature an airtight seal for optimum performance. Additionally, I.G. units in Reflections windows are set ¾” into the sash, ¼” more than most other replacement windows. The added penetration protects against conduction because the sash wraps the glass edges like a blanket, keeping the temperature of the glass warmer. This extra insulation also helps reduce the potential for condensation.

Low E/Argon-filled Glass - An essential all-season insulator, Low E coatings are comprised of transparent, microscopic layers of metal oxide applied to glass. In summer months, Low E glass keeps cool air inside while keeping hot air outside. In winter, Low E glass keeps warm air inside and cold air out. Low E glass also blocks up to 84% of the ultraviolet rays which can fade carpets, draperies and artwork. In addition, Argon gas, six times more dense than air, drastically reduces the transfer of heat and cold adding even more thermal efficiency.

ProSolar Architectural-grade, Soft Coat Low E Glass from PPG To better accommodate homeowners needs, Simonton has partnered with PPG to develop ProSolar our unique architectural grade, soft coat Low E coating. This advanced Low E technology helps homeowners save money on energy bills all year long by providing ad excellent U value of .33* and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient of .29*.

ENERGY STAR

Simonton Windows has become an ENERGY STAR partner to help homeowners choose the best window system for their needs. For optimum performance, Reflections 550 windows meet ENERGY STAR guidelines in all areas of the country with standard ProSolar glass.

Intercept Spacer System

interceptStandard on 550 windows, the unique Intercept spacer system is constructed of tin-plated steel in an original U-Channel design. Steel is 70% less conductive than aluminum, which reduces the transfer of temperatures from the exterior glass pane to the interior. Because of the U- Channel design, a major conduction path across the top of the spacer is eliminated. This results in an interior glass surface temperature seven percent warmer than windows using a traditional system. Additionally, the U-channel flexes with the glass as it expands and contracts, keeping the seal intact and allowing less opportunity for breakage As an added thermal barrier, a rubberized sealant surrounds the spacer to prevent direct metal to glass contact.

Super Spacer

super spacerFor the greatest thermal spacer performance, Super Spacer is available on Reflections windows. Made of non-metallic solid silicone foam, Super Spacer does not conduct energy as quickly as aluminum or steel spacers. As a result, conduction and condensation rates achieve all-time lows and interior glass surface temperatures average 29 percent higher* than traditional aluminum spacer systems. Additionally, the solid silicone foam offers flexible strength, virtually eliminating stress cracks and ensuring the I.G. unit retains its airtight seal.

Weather Seals

weather sealsThe 5500 design showcases dual fin seal weather-stripping around the sash perimeter, and triple weather-stripping at both the head and sill for even greater protection against the outside elements. In addition, a tri-durometer closed-cell foam weather seal located at the sill area is solid, providing a high-performance weather barrier in harsh conditions.
